Flow Factory

Empowering underserved youth through the art of dance, fostering cultural understanding and exploring diverse styles of movement.

About Flow Factory

Flow Factory is a nonprofit organization that seeks to empower underserved youth through the art of dance, fostering cultural understanding by exploring the history and diverse style of movement.

Our camp provides youth with arts education, promotes physical health, as well as help to develop social skills and enhance cognitive thinking. Flow Factory is built upon three pillars: self expression, teamwork, and commitment. These skills allow a strong foundation to build upon for academic achievement, and implement healthy learning practices for our campers to take into every day life.

Self Expression

We believe dance is a personal journey of discovery. Every student is encouraged to find their unique voice and style, celebrating individuality while building technical skills.

Teamwork

Dance is collaborative art. We emphasize the importance of supporting each other, learning together, and creating something beautiful as a unified community.

Commitment

Growth requires dedication. We foster a culture of commitment where students learn the value of practice, persistence, and showing up for themselves and their community.

Our Free 5 Day Camp Experience

A comprehensive journey through dance that builds skills, confidence, and community over five transformative days - completely free!

1

Building Communication Skills

Our first day of camp will focus solely on strengthening communication skills and team bonding. Kids will get opportunities to mingle, learn, and play through mind enriching and engaging activities surrounding dance. They will also begin to learn the importance of physical activity and maintenance through fun exercise.

2

Learning the History of Dance and Importance of Stretching

On the second day of camp, kids will already have their assigned working teams, and will cycle through workshops talking about difference muscle groups and learning why stretching is just as important and can be just as fun as dancing. After participating in a group stretch, kids will receive an engaging lesson about the history of dance in order to provide an understanding of the importance and cultural influence dance has on today's modern world.

3

Dance Day 1

On the third day of camp, kids will be asked to split up into groups and come up with 2 8-counts of choreography per group. Afterwards, each group will take turns teaching 8-counts to the rest of class, building leadership skills and fostering teamwork and communication through physical expression.

4

Dance Day 2

On the fourth day of camp, through the help of instructors, we will string together the 8-counts to create a 2-3 minute dance to learn and perform as a class. Kids will be able to choose their own music, as well as have fun with their creative juices flowing in polishing and finishing up our class dance.

5

Parent Performance Day

On the fifth day of camp, parents will be invited the second hour of class in order to see what their kids have learned over the week, and view our class performance live and in person. As this is the last day of camp, kids will be sent home with souvenirs, all the skills they have learned, and hopefully pleasant memories to last a lifetime.
